BIOGRAPHY
Lucy’s Doll is a 3 piece alternative metal band from the east coast of Australia. They formed in 1999, and are still going strong with the original line up. They have recorded 2 releases (an EP and a full length album) and are set to release their 3rd in May 2010.
After being together in a band for 2 years, Lucy’s Doll released their first self titled EP independently, leading them to secure live shows in Brisbane, Australia. On the strength of the EP and the intensity of their live show they secured support shows, including a residency in a well known indie club a renowned haven for backpackers, opening up their swelling fanbase to overseas travelers and metal enthusiasts. They also secured support acts to the likes of well-known Australian bands at the time.
In 2003, an independently released 6 track EP ‘Scars Become You’ landed them in Germany’s Metal Hammer magazine as ‘demo of the month’, hailing the trio as ‘heroes of tomorrow’. The 6 track disk led them to tour extensively throughout Germany. At one of their live shows, Lucy’s Doll attracted the interest of German label (renowned for releasing predominantly black metal). The label was drawn to the band’s presence on stage and set about releasing their first full length album, willing to take on a completely different sound and direction to the label’s repertoire.
“Formula For Hate” was released in 2006 and Lucy’s Doll hopped back in the van and toured again throughout Germany, but this time added Austria and the Netherlands to the touring schedule.
“Circle Above” is the band’s second full-length album and third recording release to date. With the album being recorded at L.S.D studios in Germany by talented engineer and co-producer Lasse Lammert, and with mastering by James Murphy (Testament, Death) in the U.S, this album is a step up in quality in production as well as song writing for the trio making them eager to release the album and take the music on tour.
Front man Brenden is now calling Germany home after moving there in the last few years which also helps bridge the gap for the band between Europe and far away Australia.
